What's in a name?

Di Penates were Roman household gods. My name is a not-very-funny reference to the role of TV in my house. I don't watch a lot each day, but I'm really into what I do watch.

(Much less interesting: I also wanted a name that I didn't need to add any other characters to, and that was available on Yahoo, too.)

D'oh. I should have recognised penates - I suppose I learnt them as 'lares et penates' and didn't think about the article at all. You can tell I never learn Latin properly. .

You're more honest than me too! I also wanted a unique name that comes up without twiddles on lots of sites. I only put in the punctuation once I realised people weren't reading it as three short words, but one incomprehensible one!

Yes, I can see how people may have been confused by Bruttimabuoni. Although there are names out there that are vastly more incomprehensible. (In my head, I always pronounce the x that people put at the start and end of their names for uniqueness / spacing.)

I chose podga after trying about 1.528.283.352 names that were all taken. Took me about an hour, and by that point I was just typing random strings of letters (and lots of swear words).

Finished West Wing! Loved it through season 5, a little less during season 6, then better again during season 7. I must now re-watch. And no, I wasn't even tempted to write Bartlett/Toby!

I really like the name Podga. Although, for some strange reason, it did make me think you were Scandinavian.

I'm glad you liked the West Wing, and I'm not a huge fan of season 6 either. There are a couple of ok eps, but it's not the best.

I've read a heck of a lot of WW fic, but I'm not sure I've ever read Bartlet/Toby. Although with all that stuff about Bartlet's father (I could almost hear Sam say 'President Bartlet!' then) and Toby's actions in season 6, there's probably some juicy, angsty, sturm und drang-filled fic out there.

(Although clearly it's all about Josh/Sam.)
